Dental implants are a good solution for replacing missing teeth and most people will be suitable for the procedure, so long as they have enough jaw bone and their mouth is in a healthy condition.

There are some factors which need specific assessment for having dental implants and these include if you’re pregnant, a heavy drinker or smoker or you suffer from diabetes or high blood pressure. If you’re currently undergoing chemotherapy then we will usually wait for this treatment to complete until you are assessed for implant treatment.

Your dentist will usually be able to advise you on your suitability for this treatment with the main criteria being good health, not age. If you’re under the age of 19 however your jawbone won’t be fully grown so dental implants aren’t usually advisable.

If you don’t have enough jaw bone then it may be possible to have further procedures such as a bone graft procedure or a sinus lift to add more bone to your jaw.

What happens during the dental implant procedure?

The dental implants will be placed into the jawbone by your dentist in Kent and allowed to heal usually for 3 months. Following   this the permanent crowns are then placed on top, which act as the artificial teeth. These are designed to mimic both the look and function of your natural set of teeth. In most cases at the front of the mouth we can place implants at the same time as removing any poor health teeth and if all is well we can place a post and fixed temporary crown to the implant all at the same time. 3 months later we will fit the final crown.

At the Parrock Dental and Implant Centre, the focus is on assessing your suitability for the dental implant procedure. We have anin house ct scanner for 360 degrres assessment of the area for safe and secure implant placement.
